Mocco Group ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Langera Android application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have over your data.

By creating an account or using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1.3 Microphone Data

When you use the Speak feature, the App uses the RECORD_AUDIO permission to capture your voice and assess pronunciation. Audio is processed in real time by Microsoft Azure Cognitive Services (Speech SDK). We do not store raw audio recordings on our servers. Only the resulting pronunciation score and metadata are saved to your profile.

You can revoke microphone access at any time via Android Settings → Apps → Langera → Permissions → Microphone.

1.4 Home Screen Widget

The Android widget displays your daily task completion status, XP, and streak from a local data store on your device. This data is not transmitted to our servers through the widget.

1.5 Notifications

If you grant the POST_NOTIFICATIONS permission (required on Android 13+), we send one daily practice reminder at approximately 9:00 AM. You can disable notifications at any time via the Account screen in the App or via Android Settings → Apps → Langera → Notifications.


2. How We Use Your Information

We do not use your data for advertising, sell it to third parties, or use it to train AI/ML models outside your explicit speaking sessions.


3. Third-Party Services

3.1 Supabase

We use Supabase as our backend database, authentication provider, and file storage. Your profile data, vocabulary progress, session history, and uploaded avatar are stored on Supabase infrastructure hosted in the EU (AWS Frankfurt region by default). Supabase is GDPR-compliant and SOC 2 Type 2 certified. Review their Privacy Policy.

3.2 Microsoft Azure Cognitive Services

Pronunciation assessment audio streams are sent to Azure Cognitive Services in real time. Microsoft processes audio only to return a pronunciation score; audio is not retained by Microsoft beyond the duration of the API call. Review the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

3.3 Google Play

Subscription billing is handled by Google Play Billing. We never receive or store your payment card information. Google's handling of payment data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.

3.4 Firebase (Crash Reporting)

We may use Firebase Crashlytics to collect anonymized crash reports and device metadata (OS version, device model, app version) to diagnose issues. No personally identifiable information is included in crash reports. Review the Google Firebase Privacy Policy.

All permissions are requested at runtime and only when the relevant feature is first used. You may deny or revoke any permission at any time — doing so disables only the associated feature.

When you delete your account (via Account → Danger Zone → Delete Account), we permanently delete all associated personal data from our systems within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

7. Your Rights

You additionally have the right to object to processing, restrict processing, and lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

California residents (CCPA):
You have the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete, and the right to opt out of sale (we do not sell personal information).

8. Children's Privacy

Langera is not directed at children under 13 (or 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it promptly.


9. International Data Transfers

If you are located outside the European Union, your data may be transferred to and processed in countries where our service providers operate. These transfers are subject to appropriate safeguards including Standard Contractual Clauses.


10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, sending an in-app notification.
